About

I started this blog to help show that it is possible to do decent astrophotography on a budget from the light drenched suburbs.  The entire process is not exactly easy, but not fantastically complicated either.  All that is needed is the proper technique and equipment.  Nonetheless, I am continually amazed by what can be captured with the family camera from the burbs.  The faintest nebula, galaxies, star clusters and planets can all be captured with a contrast and resolution that rivals what government observatories were doing on film a generation ago.  This is all possible because digital cameras have become very sensitive and computers can quickly stack many images.  The native “digitization” of images has brought astrophotography to basically everyone.  It has been endlessly rewarding taking photographs under the stars and delicately enhancing the photos in my home on cloudy nights.
